Where were you born? Matamata
How long have you been in the district? I’ve been living in the district for over 25 years with my wife. Our daughter was born and raised in the area and I have three grandkids growing up in the Waikato.
How many years have you spent in the transport industry? I’ve been in the transport industry for over 30 years.
How did you get started in the industry? I started as a driver for B CRONIN and Co (now Regal Haulage) in Tamahere, Hamilton, transporting coal, fertilizer, metal, lime and lots of other stuff.
When did you start working at Whiteline? I joined Whiteline in 2014, I had an arrangement with a local supplier that I could park my truck outside their warehouse overnight. One day their truck broke down and they called on me, we’ve been good mates and partners ever since. Four years on, we now have six Auger trucks, ten employees and that warehouse is one of our biggest clients.
Why do you like working at Whiteline? I love the district, the people, working with the farmers. I talk with all our customers and have met almost everyone personally.
What’s your favourite road to drive so far? I used to live in the Hawkes Bay area. State Highway 5, Napier – Taupo, it’s beautiful country.
Why do you think your customers like dealing with Whiteline? Our customers appreciate our service, it’s personal. We offer good advice and we work with them to make sure they get their product when they need it.
